STATESVILLE, NC – AgSouth Farm Credit recently awarded grant funding to 42 local non-profit organizations and farmers markets for the 2023-2024 Growing Our Communities Grant program for approximately $200,000. The grant recipients were selected from 276 grant applications received across Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Each applicant was eligible to receive up to $5,000.
Students from FFA chapters across the state of Georgia had the opportunity to enter and exhibit their wood and metal projects at the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, Georgia during the week of October 17-19. The impressive projects are built by middle and high school FFA members and are judged based on quality of work, precision, attention to detail, and difficulty. Projects are divided into four categories: Large Wood, Large Metal, Small Wood, and Small Metal. The Grand Champion and Reserve Champion projects are featured with their winning ribbon throughout the Expo, and students are awarded a cash prize.
STATESVILLE, NC (October 18, 2023) – AgSouth Farm Credit CEO Vance Dalton announced the winners of the 2023 Board of Director and Nominating Committee Election. AgSouth Farm Credit is a member-owned cooperative and relies on their members to help build the leadership that serves them. Open Director seats and the Nominating Committee are voted for by eligible stockholders during the Annual Meeting. This year’s Annual Meeting was held on September 6, 2023, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Eligible stockholders were able to submit their ballot by mail or online.
Each summer, AgSouth welcomes a group of students to our organization where they are presented with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Farm Credit culture. The AgSouth Internship Program allows our association to educate and develop the skills of young professionals through hands-on experience catering to each of the intern’s relevant interests. In turn, this internship provides the Association with tremendous value, bringing in fresh knowledge and ideas.
Farming today truly is a business, and requires knowledge not just of how to grow crops and raise livestock, but also how to manage both finances and risk.
