AgSouth Breaks Ground on New Office in Walterboro, South Carolina
WALTERBORO, SC (May 28, 2025): AgSouth Farm Credit is proud to announce the groundbreaking of a brand-new office at its current location, 529 Bells Highway in Walterboro, South Carolina.
Walterboro Relationship Manager Ricky Varnadoe shared his excitement about the project. “Constructing this new facility shows our dedication and commitment to the local community. We are proud of our long-standing tradition of serving farmers and families in the Lowcountry and will continue to do so in the future.”
The existing office, originally constructed in 1967, has a rich history of serving the agricultural community. It initially housed two organizations: the Federal Land Bank and the Production Credit Association (PCA). Over the years, through a series of mergers, the building became home to Edisto Farm Credit until 2000, Palmetto Farm Credit until 2004, and has since operated as AgSouth Farm Credit.
The longstanding presence and familiarity of the current location have made it a cornerstone of the Walterboro community. Rebuilding on the same site ensures continuity and convenience for local farmers, rural landowners, and residents. The new office will continue to house the same exceptional team of dedicated employees from Walterboro, ensuring a seamless transition and continued customer service.
Demolition of the old building began in May, with project completion targeted for early 2026. In the interim, the Walterboro team is serving customers from the Orangeburg Branch Office.
Troy Brownlee, Regional Lending Manager, added, “The new facility will offer a much-needed upgrade for both our members and employees to enjoy. By rebuilding at our existing location, we’re able to maintain the same level of convenience our members have come to expect. We’re confident that, once completed, the new facility will be a source of pride for our customers and the entire Walterboro community.”
